American Autoflower Cup 2025, Los Angeles CA

Los Angeles, California — The American Autoflower Cup (AAC) made its return to the beTrue venue in Los Angeles for its third consecutive year, continuing its mission to spotlight and uplift the often-underestimated autoflower segment of cannabis cultivation. Since its inception the AAC has served as a platform to uplift the foundation of cannabis culture through elevating breeders and growers in the autoflower category. This year’s event emphasized community, innovation, plant genetics, and home grow pride.

Autoflowers Take Center Stage

Historically, Autoflowers are often viewed as the “little sibling” to photoperiod cannabis. Autoflowers have steadily gained traction among cultivators for their speed, accessibility, and genetic evolution. The American Auto Flower Cup has been instrumental in contributing to the narrative shift by positioning autoflower breeding as a serious contender in cannabis cultivation. Autoflower strains are faster, more accessible, and progressively becoming more powerful—traits that were on full display at this year’s Cup.

The competition highlighted categories such as Best Auto Rosin, Best New Auto, Best Auto Hybrid, even Highest THC Auto. Bag appeal, terpene profile, and effect were a part of the judging criteria.

“Winning Best Breeder is validating because it’s earned from the community vote,” said Chubbs, Master Grower at Fast Buds. “As a breeder who has grown almost every autoflower strain, this is truly an honor.”

These wins reflect a broader trend—amid an industry landscape increasingly shaped by large corporations, small-scale, craft cannabis producers continue to hold a vital and valued space within the growing sector.

More Than Just a Competition

Beyond the awards, the AAC has become a cultural hub for autoflower and home grower communities.

Why This Matters

2025 has been characterized by Federal rescheduling roller coaster, California’s cannabis tax quandary, and a nationwide tumultuous business and socio-political environment. Events like the American Autoflower Cup remain rooted in culture and education. Cultivators, enthusiasts, as well as small-batch breeders are involved in the celebration. As autoflowers rise up in both popularity and quality, competition events like the American Autoflower Cup will continue to be a staple within the cannabis industry
