King Willonius is best known for his viral parody “BBL Drizzy,” The viral sensation turned into the first official AI-generated sample when sampled by Grammy winning artist, Drake, on the song “U My Everything” featuring Sexyy Red. But past the viral achievements, the comedian and AI creator is focused on something deeper.
In New York City, Willonius launched AI and the Culture, a growing meetup group with a mission to help Black and Brown creators to tell their stories by using AI emerging tech. During their latest meeting, creators were tasked to produce a short film using AI in less than 30 minutes. Such innovative approach showcases artificial intelligence’s ability to broaden creative access for digital artists and filmmakers lacking large budgets.
“Community makes sure our voices influence the future,” Willonius told MMJ News Network. He claimed this guarantees it. “These tools enable you to rapidly picture a concept mentally and you don’t need a million-dollar budget for this”, he explained.
At the 2025 American Black Film Festival, his commitment to building access and knowledge around AI was on display as he spoke about the risks with the responsibilities Black creators face as AI reshapes the entertainment industry. Willonius cautioned that AI is accelerating at a very fast rate and that the tech without any authentic representation could shape the cultural narratives in the absence of early engagement from Black and Brown storytellers.
During our interview, Willonius advised we can expect AI to become an everyday tool for content creators. His mission is to ensure communities of color equip themselves with the tools to leverage the potential of the emerging tech to share stories that mainstream media often overlooks.
