The age of artificial intelligence is here. This phase within the tech revolution, which continues to rapidly reshape industries, workers and innovators alike, has all stakeholders grappling with its promise and its pressure. In this news segment, MMJ News Network caught up with two voices from different ends of the AI spectrum while at the ‘AI: More Than Human‘ exhibit at the Frost Museum in Miami: Golda Scotland-Andrew, a seasoned tech professional and career creative navigating uncertainty; and King Willonius, a creative technologist building community through AI.

Tech evolution in the past century

For Golda, who has worked in tech for over 15 years, the rise of automation tools and generative models has sparked legitimate concern. “Some of these tools can process and execute faster than humans,” she says in the video. “It’s not about fear, it’s about preparation.” Her visit to the exhibit proved pivotal. One installation on Frankenstein reframed her perspective. “AI isn’t new,” she reflects. “It has been evolving, as much as we have.”

King Willonius offers a complementary perspective. Known for his viral AI-generated projects and his NYC-based community group, AI and the Culture, he sees opportunity where others see disruption or potential pitfalls. “We’re at the beginning of the newest wave in technology,” he says. “The global AI market is projected to generate nearly $7 trillion in value, and if we don’t get educated and involved, we’ll be left behind.”

Their stories converge on a critical theme: adaptation. While Golda pushes herself to learn new tools and remain abreast in her field, Willonius is building a space where Black and Brown creators can learn, experiment, and lead.

As AI continues to evolve, we find ourselves in a pivotal moment where skepticism meets curiosity, and where preparation becomes an essential asset. This is a reminder that the future of work is shaped by people willing to be active participants in this momentous transition by choosing to face change head-on.

Quote of the week

“Some people call this artificial intelligence, but the reality is this technology will enhance us. So instead of artificial intelligence, I think we’ll augment our intelligence.”
